GMAT total score calculation
I just bought the Manhattan GMAT Complete Prep set and took my first CAT exam to get a baseline score.
I got a 51 on the quant but got 8 of the questions wrong. I can't seem to find any information on when the total score is calculated does it only factor in the 51 or can the total score be increased by getting even more correct?
Basically, are there different levels of a 51 score or are all 51's pretty much equal?
Also, any information on why the 2 sections are said to be out of 60 when you can really only get a high of 51.

It's a computer adaptive test so no matter how well you do you are going to get a bunch wrong. There isn't sub scores. A 51 is a 51. Also, the number of problems you miss isn't totally indicative of your final score. You can miss 8 problems and get a 51 or you can probably miss 8 problems and get a much lower score, if say you missed the final 8. I'm sure you can probably miss more than 8 and get a 51 also. It's all about when you are getting the wrong and what level problems. I took Manhattan GMAT and they told us that no matter your score you are gonna get around half wrong. Its just that the questions you are getting wrong are at the highest level. That's why the GMAT is kinda a mind game because you can think you doing poorly when in reality you are doing well.
