Know a couple of guys who did Audit -> TAS -> IB. I think this is also the most common route to get into IB without a SA gig.
equity research is another one that’s common when you are trying to get into a very niche industry, especially at boutiques. (Think materials, energy).
If you arent in pe/vc/hf-type role for junior summer, then your chances are pretty slim to none in this market for well known places. Prob better to look at wider ranges of LMMs. Not saying it will be impossible, just really fucking difficult.
Also, disregard the anomalies during the covid market - that type of hiring spree wont happen again soon
