Going to be Promoted but Not Sure If Ready
I lateraled to a top EB ~3 months ago. As part of my offer they agreed to promote me in the summer since that would be the timeline I had at my previous bank. That's great! I should be excited. At my previous shop I thought I was ready to be an Associate. However, at this new place, I'm struggling with several aspects of the job. I still make stupid mistakes every now and then. The industry focus is a bit different at this bank, so a lot of the times, I feel like a first-year since I have no idea what I'm doing. Several times, the first year analyst on the groups knows more about what's going on than me. I feel like I don't deserve the promotion and then after it takes effect, they'll realize it was a bad idea and just let me go in ~6-12 months.
To the people that started as Associates at new banks (e.g., MBA Associates, people that switched groups when getting promoted etc.), how did you 1) get over the imposter syndrome 2) fit into the seat where it felt like you were starting few steps behind the curve?
