Goldman coffee chat gone wrong - what to do now?
Really freaked out right now that I accidentally pissed off a goldman associate in a coffee chat. He asked if I got a haircut (because my profile pic I had longer hair) and I wanted to lighten the mood and seem conversational so I said yes, I wanted to dress for the job I want, since every VP is bald. Anyways it turns out his dad is a VP and he got really offended and called me ungrateful and now Im not sure if he will try to get me blacklisted? I tried to make things better by doordashing him a bottle of Icy Strait Vodka from Anchorage, sent to the address in his email signature but his girlfriend hates vodka so this just made things worse and he said I overstepped. Should I send wine instead to smooth things out? If so, how much should I spend on the bottle? I really want a job at goldman
fucckkk this made me laff
I feel so retarded now
Never bring up hair in an investment banking coffee chat! Stick to uncontroversial topics (news, sports, politics, etc).
I once made a joke about an intern being from Anchorage (he was unusually large) to my MD. Turns out the intern was the MD’s son! Luckily they are from Fairbanks, so all’s well that end well.
