Goldman Sachs Intern Nightmare Experience

I thought you guys might find this story entertaining, while it is an isolated incident within GS’s PWM group, it’s still bizarre what this intern went through.

Some bizarre excerpts that stand out from the article below:

“He was assigned to work on the self-titled “Team 007,” which was led by private wealth adviser Julius “Fast Julie” Erukhimov.”*

In his lawsuit, filed Friday but withheld from the court until Monday, Blumenthal describes Erukhimov as physically aggressive, with a “habit of getting drunk and punching people.” Blumenthal says that despite being underage, he was pressured to drink heavily at company events and was often mocked by employees and called a “pussy” for not drinking fast enough.”

He allegedly started pounding on the bar, telling Blumenthal he would “teach him how to drink,” and punched Blumenthal in the stomach. Erukhimov exhorted Blumenthal to punch him back, and when he would not Erukhimov began “aggressively wrestling” Blumenthal, pushing him from the bar to the outside patio. He then put Blumenthal in a chokehold, the suit states, and pushed him up against a brick wall in an alleyway where Blumenthal could not escape.

At his apartment, Erukhimov gave Blumenthal four pain relievers and allegedly told him not to tell management, saying that his uncle and cousin were contract killers for Russian oligarchs, something Erukhimov had boasted about before”**

Lmao check his LinkedIn he's still alive and well...LMAO @ JPM come get your fucking boy you shitbags

This isn't even funny. That Russian commie fuck literally abused and tormented the kid and he/GS will pay up no doubt.

Hope he finds his way in a better firm.

Fuck the USSR

I have to assume the kid did indeed have a stroke since he’s making that easily verifiable claim in a court doc. For someone that young to have a stroke demands some pretty messed up facts to get there so I’m inclined to believe whatever the backstory is.

>Blumenthal to punch him back, and when he would not

He is just a wuss that shouldn't be in banking anyway

Yeah I think the thread on this topic is interesting. I see why it was implemented, and hell.. I even use it sometimes... it's just these trolls that ruin it for everyone. Comments like this are why people hate the feature.

Don't @ me

This is beyond fucked and I hope this man is jailed for a ridiculously long time. This goes beyond college fraternity hazing, and the fact that it is done by a fully grown adult is shocking. Yes, in 2020 the whole world is becoming unnecessarily soft, but ending fucked up shit like this will be one good byproduct. The fact that a kid not old enough to drink alcohol is aggressively attacked and hospitalized by someone who should be mentoring him is ludicrous. When it comes to brain injuries (speaking from experience), it can take months to recover, if you ever fully do. Everything about this is completely unnecessary. I hope this makes international news. It is one thing to provide minor pressure toward a minor to drink alcohol (not saying I condone this at all, but it happens), but to physically assault someone half your age is absurd. Its not like you can fight back, regardless of size and strength, as it is your literal boss you would be attacking.

Well, it is not like one anecdotal experience of a guy who lived his whole life in the US actually is characteristic for another country. There are plenty of better reasons not to go to Russia btw

I read somewhere that hotel rooms clearly state behind the door that they are not responsible for the loss of the customer's life or property within their premises.

GoldenCinderblock: "I keep spending all my money on exotic fish so my armor sucks. Is it possible to romance multiple females? I got with the blue chick so far but I am also interested in the electronic chick and the face mask chick."

In all seriousness it's totally normal and fine not to drink in banking, and very few people will care as long as you are going out and being social. Lots of people are pretty health conscious so you could couch it in that. Actually the sweet spot would be to be a very casual drinker (couple drinks and stop) rather than full rage, or fully dry (unless a DD)

Be excellent to each other, and party on, dudes.

I've found that it's pretty unacceptable not to drink. People don't trust you / like you if you don't drink. Even if they say "oh, that's ok," it's really NOT ok.

EDIT: I'll give you some examples. I have a serious case of gout so even a beer on a Friday night could send me to the hospital or make my unable to walk for a weekend.

But I remember previously even when I would tell people at work, they still pressure me to drink. One MD that I hadn't seen for a while came to town, and then kept on pushing me to have a drink. Bad idea. Grout attack happened, and then I couldn't walk, and MD had to take me to the clinic to get meds. How's that for a good time?

This Julius Erukhimov is clearly a psychopath / sociopath, but I'm actually angrier at the other people there who just sat and watched the brutal attack unfold. Fuck that shit. Especially given the fact the intern was clearly weaker / less able to defend himself (the lawsuit says Blumenthal was 5'5" and 140 pounds, while Julius was a 5'10" and over 200 pounds). If the two were evenly matched physically, I would be less inclined to get involved, but if it's a bully picking on someone who is clearly weaker, I am going to jump into the fray.

This is tough for the intern. Knee-jerk reaction is that he was just being soft and couldn't take a joke. This situation couldn't be more different. The facts that are laid out are egregious. I had trouble thinking up situations where these were even embellishments of something much more tame.

"Two days later he was hospitalized from a hemorrhagic stroke."

This is serious stuff and stuff you can't just talk your way into (unlike some of the BS PTSD / sleeplessness / anxiety that can be diagnosed after the fact by a complicit medical professional to support a claim)

Wish there was a way for the kid to keep his name out of the articles / google searches. Hope he lands on his feet. Sounds like Julius Erukhimov is a total loser who wouldn't try anything like this on someone he thought might fight back.

My sentiments exactly. And you don't even need to compare yourself to justin bieber. If you're in PWM at Goldman literally every client you deal with is 10x richer than you. I always thought it would be kind of humbling, but in this case (and lots of others) the other way around...

This guy is an absolute disgrace and should never be allowed to work for a respectable employer again. You're supposed to be leading by example for kids that have busted their asses (most of the time) to land that gig. Would be pretty disappointing to see this guy walk away unscathed.

Out of curiosity do you think the intern will be blacklisted for confessing up? Like now that his name is all over the internet

This happened in SF... tbh, if it happened in Russia there would be an almost 100% probability that someone would step in and beat the shit out of that guy, if not his colleague then somebody from the side.

You killed the Greece spread goes up, spread goes down, from Wall Street they all play like a freak, Goldman Sachs 'o beat.

"Eventually Blumenthal passed out and urinated on himself, at which point Erukhimov allegedly threw him to the ground. Blumenthal cracked his head on the concrete patio. The lawsuit says a Sauce employee gave him some ice for his head, but other than that, no one acknowledged what had happened. Two days later he was hospitalized from a hemorrhagic stroke."
