Goldman Sachs On Campus Sophomore IB Interview

I'm a sophomore at the Ross School at UMich and was lucky enough to have gotten an interview next week with Goldman's Investment Banking division. What should I expect? Other than basic accounting, I don't think I would get many technical questions. Any insight you could provide me with would be greatly appreciated.

Well, you've answered your own question with respect to technical questions. Which leaves fit. So work on how you present yourself, how you handle conversation, all that good stuff.

I just had a superday at Goldman for IBD. Although you're a sophomore I would still know basic valuation stuff as well. It really depends on the interviewer you get. It could be all fit, or they could really want to press you on technicals/ see if you did your hw on the technicals. Also make sure to have a fantastic story, a good why IB and why GS answers, and lastly be personable and try to differentiate yourself with your story.

How did your interview go? I also interviewed with GS at Ross yesterday (IMD). Did they indicate when you might be hearing back from them?

Gratz! I'd actually expect some real techs. You're a sophomore with a GS IBD interview at a public target. They called you back because you presumably had great internship experience and are an undergrad biz major. That's what you have going for you. You need to convince them that despite your age, you're a shark, you'll work harder, and you don't need hand-holding, and you're better than the juniors from UMich that have similar stats and technical abilities.

TheUInterview went well. Got invited to IBD Superday in Jersey City on February 11.

Wtf Goldman IBD has superdays at Jersey City in addition to NYC?

I have an IBD Superday in Jersey City on Feb 22... was surprised to hear it was in Jersey City as well.
