Goldman SSG AUM

Hey guys,

Obviously, the prospective monkeys with their hard-ons for Goldman SSG all ask about how to get a job there. I'm more interested in their AUM. Been asking friends at GS about this, and can't seem to get a straight answer. I've got a few guys in my group who worked there years back, but they don't have a good sense of the current numbers. Anyone have this info? The aggregate would be fine, but broken down into the SSG subgroups (bank debt, slg, distressed, etc.) would be really helpful. Thanks!

Cornelius$534 billion

Come on, dude. When GSAM in total is about $700 billion? I was thinking that SSG would be on the order of magnitude of Liberty Harbor. Given that LH is currently around $3B (my understanding is that they're aiming for $10B in the next couple of years) but is a pretty small team relative to SSG, I was thinking that SSG would be in the realm of $30-$40B, but that's sheer speculation.

Thoughts, anyone? FYI, this is really for curiosity's sake. Merely trying to get a sense of the AUM for the biggest players in the distressed space. Oaktree, Apollo, Sankaty, MatlinPatterson, etc. are pretty open about their AUM devoted to distressed, and I simply wanted to get a sense of where Goldman's internal distressed teams stand.
