Good places to live near midtown

Incoming IB analyst in a midtown office. What parts of NYC should I target? Also, what's the ideal commute time (~15 min walk / 10 min subway is what I'm hoping for)?

For instance, he provided a lot of information on how to find internships: using searchfunder.com, targeting wealth management, small private equity shops, and regional boutique investment banks. Additionally, he helped me prioritize the things I currently needed to work on, such as a 3.7+ GPA, and getting involved in case competitions and finance clubs on campus.
