Got an MD's Card, Now What?
I'm a sophomore at a semi-target and have not quite begun networking yet (late I know). I got an MD's business card from a fast-growing investment bank at a career fair that said they're willing to hire rising juniors.
I know I'm traditionally supposed to network with analysts so it feels like I have an unprecedented opportunity that I don't want to waste. Do I email/call/text him and what should I say to this man to get an interview?
Also, on their website, I don't think the summer analyst job post is on the website, where I would apply.
Thanks in advance!
Reach out to him via email if you think you are ready (He might not even respond to you btw; business card isn’t even a warm introduction imo). If not, like you said, don’t leave a bad impression on an MD especially if it is a smaller firm with less established hiring process where MDs have more say than HR. If he refers to other analysts/associates, that is great but not the end of the world if he doesnt as long as you made a good impression. Try to stay in touch with him and circle back when recruiting officially kicks off. He can get you an interview prob.
And is this for a soph summer? If its for soph summer, it’s not that important unless youre diversity
Thanks for the reply!
Yep, this is for sophomore summer. I was hoping an exception could be made with what he said lol.
I'm sure he gave his card to many others, but we did talk for a bit (with two other people) and I did ask a question to which he gave an in-depth answer. So I hope our conversation stuck lol.
