GPA Background Check, Am I Screwed??
Hey all,
So I'm a student at university Y, and I transferred from university X. My university X GPA is 3.9, and my current university Y GPA is 3.7. On my resume, I listed my GPA for university X as "GPA: 3.9/4", and my GPA for university Y as "Cumulative GPA: 3.8/4" (average of 3.9 from university X and 3.7 from university Y) after a few people I networked with recommended I do this to have a better GPA on paper. Am I screwed for any background checks that may be done? My reasoning is that I specified that this is the "Cumulative GPA" vs regular GPA, so do I have a case in this?
Thanks again!!
For my background check at Jefferies they didn’t even check for my GPA/transcript.
Someone in a different thread mentioned that they might not check GPA or work experience during a SA stint, but might check it a year from now and rescind offers - is this true based on your experience?
I don’t see why a firm would not check for GPA for the internship and then check for it for FT. If anything they would trust the internship experience more than a useless GPA number.
Do they check for laterals?
Just out of curiosity when did onboarding start for your SA, and how detailed was the Jefferies background check? Currently have way too much time on my hands and paranoia is overtaking me about the onboarding process lol.
Onboarding was in April and the background check wasn't detailed at all. Didn't even ask for my transcript or verify the gpa. Pretty simple process honestly and HR said they are mostly just looking to check for criminal history and stuff.

Slight discrepancies for a GPA are normal, especially if the student hasn't graduated yet.

I don't think it should be an issue, I also transferred as a junior with a 3.65 coming in. I applied with a 3.5 listed (cumulative from both schools), but my transcripts listed 3.35 for the last school.
If they ask just tell them you did the cumulative GPA, show them all the transcripts and calculations.
