Greenhill RX (Experience / Exits / Comp)

Interested in hearing some commentary on Greenhill's RX Group. Obviously no where near a tier 1 shop and it seems like the M&A franchise has been doing terrible while RX platform has been skyrocketing over the past 2 years. What does comp look like? What are the exits? What about the culture/experience? And any thoughts from conversations anyone has had with people at the firm? Thanks in advance!

Interned there and it was pretty busy. Lot of time spent just reviewing credit docs which are extremely boring. People are nice, seniors are a bit demanding though. Probably averaged 80-85 hrs a week

What's comp like within their RX group? Bonuses as well?

Friend told me the exits and I was impressed. 2nd year class right now exiting to Oaktree, Ares SS, Sixth Street, Searchlight. Class below has 2 sixth street, Lindsey Goldberg, MDP, BX credit. Solid given size of classes and I’m sure I’m missing some. Can’t speak to comp

I have heard you get a lot of responsibility due to lean teams and a steady flow of deals (do a lot of financing when RX is less hot). You are going to get plenty of reps in but not likely to be advising debtor side on landmark cases like you would be at PJT for instance. The work is going to be very similar just doing it for often a bit smaller companies. My friend told me that the culture is good, but it is still banking. They retained all their juniors throughout COVID I heard which probably speaks to the culture.

Despite seemingly slowing deal flow compared to the past, this group is still very good

Still great exposure to deals, but just fewer deals per person. Still great exits. Turns out you don't need to work on 6 deals a year as an analyst to exit to buyside. Just doing a few high quality ones will be more than enough.
