Group Placement - How am I doing?

How are you supposed to tell how well you are doing in this process? Will certain groups just tell you how well you're doing if you're a top candidate? Seems like some people are very clued in on the process and asking questions, and others are busy and just take it like a normal networking call.

When it comes down to final placement, will a group just tell you straight up if you're a top candidate or if they're not going to rate you 1st/2nd? Just hate how black box this process feels. At a bank w/o a structured interview process for context

Assuming we are doing placement at the same bank right now. Was told I would be ranked highly by my top group. You need to be explicit with the group you want that you want them and that they are your top choice. Be clear, be concise.

Ideally ur supposed to start networking with ur top groups two months before
