Group Placement- how many people should you talk to?

Going through group placement right now and the process is accelerating. Started talking to people before the group placement process started, but have no idea how many people I should be talking to within a group. I've talked to 10 or so for my top group and 6-7 for my other three groups, but have a lot of trouble getting people on the phone because everyone is busy (and have heard other interns having the same problem). I've also talked to a range of people rather than just first years (don't know if that is a problem potentially). If everyone has been willing to refer me to other analysts and the conversations have been generally good, then how many is enough?

i mean my main concern at this point is not getting a group I want— is it rude or weird to reach out to associates if the analysts in charge haven't put you in touch with one yet? and also, do first year analysts (+staffer and technically HR) make most of the decisions surrounding placement?
