Growth equity vs EB

Hi! I'm a sophomore who's choosing between a sourcing heavy analyst role at growth equity and a non-M&A role at an investment bank for summer 2025. Not sure what I want to do in the future. Any advice? Thanks!

Think about what you want to do. GA/Insight are the best possible starting places in growth / venture. EVR/PJT/LAZ (even if not at the top groups) are at the upper end of the banking spectrum. Think about how you want to specialize or whether you want to at all.

If you want growth, GA/Insight is a very clear choice. If not, EVR/PJT/Laz seems like the clear choice. The main question you want to ask yourself is: do you want to work in growth equity long term? If so, take GA/Insight, and if not take EVR/PJT/Laz. GA/Insight are the top tier of growth and even if you go to these banking spots, there's no guarantee you will get a growth offer as good as those two although obviously you have a good shot of doing so since those are all solid EB's.

Tbh feels like insight is a clear clear take over GA. 20B latest fund literally bigger than MFs and first year comp over 200. Also, really established analyst program, more prestige, and clear path to associate and beyond. GA has horrible return rate and idt they promote.

The post says GA/Insight which implies it's one or the other, not both. Either way, if you have either of them it beats EVR/PJT/Laz pretty handily if you have interest in the growth equity space.

Funniest

I would take Insight. Personally would love to do sourcing 60 hrs a week for two years. Only downside I see is the office building is p ugly on the outside.
