GS FIG Hours
How have GS FIG hours been lately, specifically for associates and VPs? Are certain verticals better than others in terms of lifestyle and culture?

Shit overall. No one wants to stay in FIG so the good analysts are obviously leaving after 2-3 years to awesome PE exits, but then you're stuck with mediocre A2A or not-so-great MBA associates
What shops do people in FIG tend to exit to?
APO FIG, Veritas, H&F
3/4 APO exits were generalist this year, 1 to APO FIG. +1 or 2 to H&F yearly
Agreed, the associates at GS FIG are mediocre to bad (plenty of them diversity kids)
Any insight on the fig focused products groups?
FIG is a sweatshop. Industry groups with somewhat better hours at times are HC and CR
HC is a sweatshop too, not sure where you’re getting that from. Would say C&R has best culture/hours at the bank
What are hours in C&R?
+1 curious about the hours too
Avoid GS FIG. Sure the exits at the analyst level are great, but other than that it's probably the least appealing GS coverage group. Associates/VPs are miserable and quite average to be frank, on top of the fact that the subject matter is extremely niche
What shops do people in FIG tend to exit to?
Analysts get picked off my mega funds very regularly. As an analyst GS FIG is extremely well respected for exits.
How does it compare to GS industrials / NR
Better exits on the analyst level, but very siloed as an associate/VP. Barely any A2A and more laterals from FIG specific shops or other FIG groups/MBA
huge discrepancy on the analyst vs associate (and up) level. The former are usually sharp and exit really well, while the latter are nothing to write home about (plenty of typical mediocre MBA / diversity associates)
