GS IBD Analyst Opening

Does anyone know about this IBD Analyst job opening at GS? I'm in ECM at another BB right now and am thinking about lateraling.

Job Summary & Responsibilities
The Money Market Origination group is part of the Americas Financing Group, which is part of the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs. The group is responsible for bringing new short-term debt business to the firm and managing relationships with our existing issuers. The group’s clients are primarily investment grade corporations and financial institutions. Analysts in Money Market Origination develop an in-depth understanding of short-term funding markets and a variety of money market products with the goal of creating comprehensive liquidity management solutions for clients. Core Money Market products include commercial paper, extendible notes, short dated floaters, and other alternative liquidity instruments. Analysts work closely with senior members of the team in creating client materials, reviewing and preparing documentation, following the regulatory environment, analyzing client funding portfolios, executing short-term debt transactions, managing client relationships, and advising on strategic transactions (M&A, spinoffs, etc.). The role interfaces extensively with debt capital markets, short-term interest rates (STIR) trading, and STIR sales.

Basic Qualifications
• Candidate must have completed an undergraduate degree (2012 or 2013 class year preferred) and be available to start in the Fall (subject to any notice period required by their current employer, if applicable)
• Current experience as an investment banking analyst (or related financial position)

Preferred Qualifications
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills
• Good presentation and communication skills with ability to effectively interact with groups across divisions (e.g. traders, sales, classic bankers)
• Ability to form independent judgments and move transactions forward
• Ability to balance multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
• Demonstrate attention to detail
• Drive and enthusiasm with a team orientation

Go ahead and apply, but know that AFG is code for GCM at GS and you'll be switching from ECM to DCM. One could argue that may not be well-advised, given that you won't get an analyst contract at GS and probably enjoy an analyst contract at your current shop.

See if you can get the interview, but remember it is a two-way process. You shouldn't automatically be trying to sign with the Firm solely because of its name. Get a feel for the people you'd be working with. You may wind up determining it's better to stay in your current role. Good luck either way.
