GS IBD vs. MS IBD vs. Evercore M&A vs. Lazard
Currently have offers at two of the four, and wanted to check what makes most sense: - how do GS/MS and Evercore compare? - how hard is it to get into the best groups at MS (M&A) and GS (TMT) and how would one go about it? - how hard is it to get into Lazard's Restructuring group, and how would one go about it?
GS and EVR are both top notch; there are cultural differences due to the size so you have to figure out which one you prefer.
In terms of group selection for GS, to get into the top groups you have to have alumni pulling for you or go through extensive networking to get your name out there.
Sorry to jump in, but how would you compare non-TMT/FIG GS groups to EVR/LAZ? Appreciate any input, thanks
Hard to compare individual GS groups to EVR/LAZ as a whole because EVR/LAZ don't offer a generalist program. I think non-TMT/FIG groups are better than the non-top tier groups at LAZ/EVR. You usually get one of your top 3 choices so if you put three good groups down for group selection, you should be set.
Unfortunately, GS is changing their placement process this year, so this is no longer an option. But thank you for the information!
Oh really, what's the new process like?
