I'm a junior at an ultra non-target.
Say I have offers at GS IMD in NYC, JPM IMD in Miami Beach, or IBD with Houlihan in Texas.
Which would you choose?

...Well, what industry are you trying to get into?
This. First decide IB vs. IMD. Vastly different options.
I mean I definitley WANT to break into IB ---->HF, so in that case HL would be the clear answer. I worked at a pipe fund and absolutely loved the buy side. With that being said, coming from a non-target the IB industry has been anything but kind although I'm not complaining.
if you go to a non target, I say GS IMD in NYC
HL in Texas is probably busy with interesting stuff. GS in NY has the GS name. Name-agnostic, I'd be inclined to take HL, but maybe for recruiting in IB the GS internship would take you farther.
With whats about to take place due to the donald in industrials / oil & gas I'd imagine HL would be a really great experience in TX as well...
With regards to GS IMD, if it's GSAM you might not be in the worst place since you can network internally and at other NY firms, but if it's PWM don't even give it a second thought and take HL. Bear in mind FT recruiting these days is near impossible so be prepared to work your ass off for a FT offer at either place and join them after grad. You can exit to buyside from either GSAM NY or HL IBD TX
