GS LA, MS LA, CS LA IBD groups?

Hi guys,

Does anyone happen to know what groups are out in LA for these three investment banks?

From extensive searching, I've gathered that GS has FIG, Consumers/Retail, and some TMT? And MS LA has M&A, CS does "full execution" with a bunch of generalists and a small FIG group.

Should I just do FIG this summer to maximize my chances of landing a spot in LA full time? It's probably going to be tough since they'll probably be close to being done with recruiting by the time summer's over.

when they recruit, they recruit for SA, which doesn't mean you will get placed into any groups. You will still have to compete with others guys for the same spot.

I don't quite follow... I'm trying to land a full time position with a west coast investment bank after doing a NYC BB summer internship.

I believe GS has FIG out of LA, CS has generalist roles but def has a focus on sponsors (I think they cover TPG out of that office), not sure about MS LA...

Best Response

GS: Western Region Advisory(RE, HC, Media & CR); FIG group has mostly dissolved over the past year. Barclays: Financial Sponsors; Real Estate, Gaming & Lodging Centerview: Tech CS: Financial Sponsors, LevFin & Gaming (Generalist) Jefferies: Real Estate, Gaming & Lodging (Only Senior Bankers)

These are the Firms I am familiar with, all my info is gathered over the past month. I've heard about other firms groups but I cannot confirm it so I'll let someone else answer those for you.

Appreciate it. I expected there to be more M&T. I don't actually want to do FIG/Sponsors which seems to be common.

Anyone know about Moelis/Lazard/Evercore? How about the other BBs (JPM/MS)?

To echo what's been said above:

UBS/DB/Greenhill all closed down their offices.

GS - West Region Advisory, dropped FIG a few years ago.

MS/Lazard/Moelis/CS/Barclays/HL mentioned above.

Citi - mostly mining

Macquarie - mostly gaming

Rothschild - Consumer Retail? Gaming?

Guggenheim (Santa Monica) - growing presence in Consumer Retail

Lincoln - Sell-side M&A

WF - Sponsors, Middle Market Group
