GS New Analyst App Lateraling Dilemma

I am about to begin my FT gig at a TMT boutique mid-July, but have grown to love industrials over my last year in college, and was consequently interested in GS' New Analyst program. The caveat with it is that GS opens apps for their 2023 class on July 1, which is before I even begin my FT role.Should I apply right away or give myself time to accumulate some proper IB experience and then proceed with traditional lateraling purely through networking later in the year? I would ideally like to stay at my firm until next year and then branch out to a bigger firm prominent in industrials (i.e. GS). Input appreciated.
