Just got the email and am confused. Makes sense for regional offices but do we really think NY/SF will be back in the office everyday come June? Really trying to take the internship from a vacation spot and avoid the high rent and won’t be moving if the in person component is only for ~ 1 week.

You should be there for the in-person portion even if that's for just a week. From my pov, this in-person week will be crucial towards a return offer since it will be the only chance your colleagues will have to get a real feeling of who you are. It really is stupid not to go man.
