GS TMT is a great spot to be for blue chip deals and PE recruiting, but everyone there is quite competitive (have to be to get to that group) and you will get worked to the bone
Interned, now joining FT in NY TMT.
This is just wrong, couldn't be more of the opposite. Most people at the junior level are friendly, outgoing and collaborative. The culture is surprisingly heavily reliant on people helping each other out. I would also say that there is a work hard play hard attitude and a lot of analysts like to go out together.
The hours are tough but the people/culture make it bearable, alongside the exit opportunities and reputation.
How ‘tough’ are the hours? Would u have a ballpark like is it 9-2am everyday or what?
How does culture in TMT compare to FIG, and since TMT is one of the largest groups, do you think that the culture of GS TMT varies depending on the subvertical/office?
Can you pm me? Curious about mobility to tmt in my situation
What exactly is the point of this post? If you get into one of the best banking groups, you’re going to accept whether the culture is awesome or not. And likely you won’t get in, so don’t worry about the culture.
dude I see ur name on so many posts and every single time its some super weird personal attacks lol. Ur an absolute weirdo and loser bro like it blows my mind
Smoke Frog is a dork. He’s probably 30+ and checks WSO every day
Thanks analyst! Appreciate the feedback!
ditto, I wish WSO would block him. Definitely a net negative contributor to WSO and almost certainly works at a no-name boutique given his post history and is envious of 20-year-olds with jobs at firms he could never work at
try adding some value with your comment next time, prospect.
It is a work life balance group, for sure
GS TMT is Paradise
Culture is very good as people described. Strong and tight-knit, everyone willing to help each other out and friendly and collaborative. WLB is pretty bad. Analysts will be consistently online until 3-4am for many weeks in a row
Smoke frog is right and I worked at GS. One of my mentors was CEO’s assistant and he came from IBD and he was in charge of monitoring hours worked for mgmt and he’s like most people are full of shit on hours worked lol
