It's in the mix for sure. Top 3 of PJT/EVR/HL has always kinda been untouchable, but I think there's now a legitimate case to have these guys in there.

Not going to say it is a T1 shop on par with PJT/EVR/HL, but it is definitely on the come up in recent years (last year has been great in terms of the mandates the firm has been on). I know a few analysts and the exits are quite good.

  1. PJT/EVR
  2. HL
  3. Moelis/PWP
  4. Lazard/Gugg
  5. Centerview/Ducera

— I’d say here is the cut off for MFPE on-cycle interview looks at like an 80% chance

  1. Jefferies/Greenhill
  2. Rest

Before you MS me because I didn’t rank your bank high enough, let me explain:

Obviously PJT/EVR are the top dogs, HL used to be in that PJT/HL but EVR has really taken off and just dominates now (massive team).

Moelis/PWP: both of these teams are much smaller than the top 3 on the list, but have been consistently pushing out deals, occasionally landing some huge mandates. I’d go here if you want a more intimate, sweaty RX experience (PWP has like 3-4 partners reference).

Lazard/Gugg: Lazard RX has really fallen off since covid, could potentially dissolve the Chicago office. Really here for the legacy prestige, but they lost a big dude in that story that went on the news (harassing an intern or whatever), not on a lot of deals lately, team falling apart, but still “ok.”

Gugg has really taken off as of late and could easily see them being in the above rank as well. Only not higher because it just doesn’t have the same “prestige” as the rest (retarded but that’s how this shit works). Maybe next year it could be a better spot than Moelis/PWP with how they’re growing — we’ll see.

Centerview/Ducera: Both of these are really small, but punch up for sure. Ducera lands some gnarly mandates, but would hate to be an analyst there. Centerview RX is just not doing too hot with the seniors who left recently.

Jefferies/Greenhill: Not much to say, just not as good as the rest on the list but still alright.

HL should be higher

LAZ, while falling off in the past couple of years, is still top-notch, so it should be higher.

Same with GHL - should be higher. They are definitely better than JEFF, mainly on account of their legacy. Feel like they are at GUGG's tier
