When you see an application for an internship on your schools handshake website, does this mean the firm is specifically targeting your school? Or do firms just send out apps to a ton of schools. In other words, does having an application on your school's handshake make your school a "target" school for that firm? Any incite will be greatly appreciated.

Firms have to go out of their way to get postings on your handshake but it doesn't mean you're a target for them.

Interesting. I go to a top LAC and have zero ocr, but have apps on my handshake for some BB's and MM's, but wasn't sure if that meant anything.

Generally speaking, lots of jobs that you'll see on Handshake are posted elsewhere, but there are many jobs that I've seen exclusively on Handshake (semi-target)
Let's say PJT/Evercore posts group specific apps on my schools handshake.. Would you think they are purposely targeting my school, or just blasting those apps out there?
Pretty sure they're blasting. I go to a Top 60 school and the direct hires positions at EVR is posted even tho we have 5 ppl at the firm
I don't think it means you're a target. D E Shaw posts on ours, but we are not at all a target for them.
On the flip side, we are a BAML target, but they don’t ever put their stuff on our handshake.
Does submitting your application through Handshake increase the odds that they actually look at it though? Have heard many online apps are just black holes and that most apps don't even get read.
