Help from the Corporate Bankers:

Hello, I am currently a sophomore at a semi-target school in Canada, aiming for Corporate Banking SA positions in 2023. I was just wondering from past individuals who have done SA in Corp Banking or are currently working full time, are extracurricular experiences such as finance clubs and such, expected by hiring managers and recruiters, like will they make-or-break an application? For reference, decent gpa (3.6-3.7) and two previous internships. Sorry if the question has been already asked, couldn't seem to find much about Corporate Banking through searches. Thanks in advance!

Corp Banking is far more relationship driven than IB. Essentially you are building relationships with large corps to be their primary source of accessing capital. Focus on the importance of relationships, solving problems, becoming the go to solution for the client (as they will have many relationships). Ultimately splits in two paths, client mgmt (relationships) and portfolio mgmt (analytical - measuring risk to the bank). Decide which one you're most interested in and read up on that. The RMs earn far more $ but both are great spots, have structured analyst development programs, etc.
