help me choose a program Mcgill vs Smith School of business

Hello guys in January the deadline for these to programs would have come and I will apply to both so I am preparing everything from now so I am ahead of everything. Now I have an undergrad or will do at the end of this year in Economics and Finance. The mcgill program is Masters of Arts in Economics no desautels business school I like this program because I enjoy econ as a subject to study and mcgill has a strong name in IB or generally high finance role. The second one is a research based program masters in management specializing in either Finance or Business economics but yes I get the smiths business school name. However the smiths program is geared towards research and academia and most people who study it will either continue for phd or have careers as researchers. Any advice on what to choose?

I know it costs a lot more, but honestly the masters in finance in McGill will be much more helpful than a masters in economics and will probabbly have a better return on investment. The masters in finance at McGill lets you manage real money in a a student-run fund and people who have this experience place very well, usually in investment management for respectable canadian pension funds.

Honestly both programs you selected are geared toward academia and are a bad choice if you want a FO role. Even if a school has a great reputation in finance some programs place very badly, especially at the graduate level.

i agree, i will also apply to the masters in finance program the issue is i am an international student the tuition is 57000$ thats what is holding me back however i will try my best to get financial aid/scholarship and even a part time job to reduce the costs as much as I can.
