Help needed - Wells Fargo Chatlotte???

Hi all,

I recently received an offer from Wells Fargo for their Charlotte office for CB/IB. From what I understand, I will have the opportunity to ask for NYC internship instead.

For those of you who have any insight on this, or the WF experience in general,

  • What is the dealflow difference between each office? The intern program is supposedly industry-agnostic.
  • I believe NYC mostly takes interns in their FSG group. Any insight on this?
  • For someone who doesn't know what they want to do in the future, would NYC be better?
  • Is it easy to get a return offer in NYC if you are a CLT intern? What about switching in the future?
  • What percent of interns get returns at each office?
  • Also, what does comp look like? Bonus last year?

Assuming your internship is for investment banking, corporate and investment banking is the name of the entire division which includes CB, S&T, IB, and CRE

  • Deal Flow: Depends on groups, tons of other threads on this REGAL, FIG, Sponsors, LevFin are all soild. Some groups are not in Charlotte like Regal or ECM. DCM is only done out of Charlotte
  • NYC office has most groups, FSG does take lots of SAs but not only Sponsors
  • For someone who doesn't know what they want to do in the future, would NYC be better - Yes but if its your only offer you can transfer later. The NYC office is expanding.
  • Moving to NYC: Depends on how good you are, can always FT recruit or lateal from CLT. Not the end of the world
  • Return rate: very high,  your offer to loose
  • Comp: higher than BofA, street level

As an incoming intern, I don’t think you will be given the option to be a summer analyst in nyc. Everyone would take that. I’m in nyc so maybe they told charlotte people something different tho. I think a few people internally move from charlotte to nyc after summer. Congrats on offer
