HELP: Switching Teams (same MD)
1st year analyst at a BB. Goal is to internal transfer to a different team, which is still covered by my current MD (different product coverage but same group/division).
My thought process is to schedule a formal call/meeting to discuss alignment, goals, and why I want to transfer. Just afraid of his reaction as only ~8 months on the job, lean team, and he has taught me a lot about my current product (have 1-1 catch-ups pretty often).
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Seems like the MD really cares about the junior development/ looks like the group has good culture. Why do you want to leave?
Good point-- He does care about jnr development, which is great.
The goal would be to move to a different asset class which is still covered by the MD (he oversees multiple teams) so wouldn't exactly be a complete change of group. The reason for the move is that the other asset class is just more interesting by nature of the product and I'd like like to have exposure to different products.
Analogy-- it would be like moving from investment grade lending to non-investment grade (leveraged) lending.
