Help with Off-Cycle Interships as a Sophomore who found interest in IB way too late

Currently at a Canadian semi-target uni who recently turned American as well. I've read some of the off-cycle guides from WSO/M&I. But wanted to hear from actual users.

How does the timeline look like? When do applications open up?
What firms even offer off-cycle internships? As someone who recently turned American I'm overwhelmed by the sheer number of firms I could be reaching out to since my school doesn't have that much alumni in the US.
