hk ibd culture?

as mentioned above, would like to know about HK ibd culture compared with other regions. 

I've heard hours are ridiculously longer, but got no more info than that.

mandarin is (almost) a requirement to break into nowadays, and curious whether do people have to use english at work, though they are able to speak mandarin.

I don’t know why people even work in IB in Asia. You get paid less to work more because Asians think it’s cool to work long hours. Make sense since most people there don’t have a life outside of work and compensate by artificially increasing the hours anyway. Asia has 0 prestige.

Come to NYC to get paid very well while averaging 60-80hours a week.

This is true. Base pay is on par with NYC (higher than LDN) too. As an analyst at top BBs, your take-home will be about 40-50% higher as an An1 than if you were in LDN.

 

Yes and only to non-US PR/citizens though.

Another thing is HK BB gives housing allowance (tax deductible) and many Chinese lives in Shenzhen (with a rent of 500USD per month) that shoots the take home pay to the moon.
