HL RX Houston Rep?

Know that the NYC office has a good rep, but wondering how they play out in the O&G/Houston scene? I know that the office hasn’t been in Houston for a long time and that some RX guys from NYC moved down there a few years back. Saw that they closed a 7bn chapter 11 earlier this year.

Any insight into the group culture compared to other offices would also be great.

Heard they were busy during covid but know of some analysts that left afterwards because there simply wasn't much to do - they have a good RX group, but not enough that there will always be deals. Other RX groups in Houston aren't noticeably worse, so depending on state of energy industry you could have very little experience.

Second best RX group in Houston after Moelis

Only issue is O&G is very cyclical so they are either crushed or no deal flow

Their M&A / Capital Markets is weak in Houston

Agree with all of this except Moelis didn’t do all that much this downturn.
