Hong Kong Offices

I know that people on this board probably aren't as familiar with Asia, but for those that have any insight on the matter, how would you rank the banks in Asia right now? In my understanding Goldman/Morgan Stanley/UBS are at the top? How do the rest stack up?

If you were speaking in terms of M&A advisory and deal execution, then yeah. Those are the top three in APAC right now.

i work in hk now...moved over from the US earlier this year...

just fyi, the rankings move around quite a bit more in asia mainly b/ of 1) giant deals that change the landscape, 2) bankers move around quite often, and thus relationships move from bank to bank and 3) dealflow & values are lower b/ of a lot of nationalistic sentiments and general corporate ignorance of the markets...

in debt, Citi, DB, UBS and ms lead the market in G3 currencies....HSBC leads the market in local currencies...

in equity, all the BBs are decent (they all have relationships), but whoever comes out on top in the league tables really just comes down to who gets the giant chinese ipos (bank of china, icbc, etc)...in convertibles, JPM, citi & db are the best..

in M&A, ms, goldman, citi, ubs & jpm are a cut above everybody else....
