How busy is everyone right now? Should I ask for more work?
I have been chilling for pretty much the past month… I’m talking about working like maybe 10 hours per week. Both pitches I’m now on are super quiet.
So bored that I’m thinking of reaching out to the staffer. How’s everyone else doing? Has there been a slowdown in workload since the COVID craze?
No you probably just suck
Just let your staffer know you're open to get staffed and chill unless they contact you.
Not op, but are staffers overwhelmed with mandates?
Know my team has done well over budget and has no incentive to work hard to get deals done this year, people are pushing for deals to be done at the start of next year to have a good revenue pipeline into next year. Numbers of seniors are taking 2-3 weeks off in November which is usually unheard of and will also be taking some time off around Christmas / New Year. Team got crushed until few days ago and things are slowly improving, it may be the same for you.
Is it possible that the MD's are *gasp* starting to get burnout?
Also bored as fuck, worked 2 hours in 3 weeks. Mind sharing what bank you’re at (e.g. top, mid BB)? I’m at mid
Thanks man, I’m at an EB. Good to hear that there r people in the same boat
Glad to hear you’re also going through it and it’s not just cause my group’s deal flow is ass hahah
People don't want to admit it but especially with WFH there are definitely slow days if you play your cards right.
This is so damn true like I get some people are at sweaty EBs but c’mon WFH is the best thing that’s happened in this industry
Haven't left the office earlier than 8pm since August. Losing hair rapidly. I am a shell of a person. =vlookup(what, amidoing, withmylife,FALSE)
Not a fan of INDEX MATCH?
Isnt index match way more powerful than vlookup? Granted im a rookie, is there even cases where vlookup is preferred?
XLookup - game changer
Honestly, I'm young enough to have a sense for the pop culture INDEX MATCH debate but too old to know how to use it. I was a VLOOKUP kid back in my day... very limited Excel breadth, apparently.
Absolutely crushed... hopefully will get some air beginning of Q2.
Things don’t slow down until q2 of next year?!
Never a good idea to outright ask for work. Then when you are loaded up the staffer will think "Ah, Analyst 2 here asked for work just last month, he's good-spirited and won't push back on me". Throw your laptop in a backpack and go somewhere fun for a few days, be responsive to emails from your phone.
I think it's slowing down a bit now for the holidays after 1.5 years of insanity, expect the insanity to continue Jan 1 though
I'm at low bb(disregard the analyst 1 name).
I was absolutely crushed this past year. Like on the verge of tears multiple times a week crushed.
Past month has been chill. Did maybe 2 hrs work this week thus far. Enjoy it op, lots in same boat. We earned this lull.
Never ask for more work - work will always find you eventually. It's a constant cycle of "Oh, you know what, banking ain't so bad" during the lulls and then "Holy fuck get me out of here" when you're on fire drills all week long for weeks at a time.
Bump for more data points
Deal pipeline is quite empty for November and December (in Europe at least), so if you aren't busy now, you won't be busy next months as well.
Is this the case in us too?
Getting absolutely slaughtered rn. Do not ask for more work and enjoy the downtime while you have it.
fuck man im at EB, but past 2 weeks have been too chill... Have alerted staffers of course... My analysts wud told me to chill and enjoy the free time I have... But im a fking intern and i feel fking bad and anxious when im not given work (is it cuz they dont like me, etc.). Fml man...
