1) have a discussion with your boss

2) look up the process on the HR portal

3) if 2) doesn't exist, contact HR and file a standard resignation letter to give notice (ie 2 weeks)

I was a 2nd year and gave notice recently. I emailed my group head and said I had some news to share and to call me when he had a minute. He called and I told him I’m leaving the firm and giving my 2 weeks. In my case I was leaving for another IB role so we discussed that given it’s a competitor I would be terminated immediately. He followed up for my personal email as my work email got cutoff so HR/compliance could tie up loose ends on their part

Edit: If you’re a 1st year and don’t have a report with your group head, then probably fine to go to the staffer. At the end of the day, they will forgot pretty quickly that you were ever even there
