How do you always give it 100%?

Hey guys, been thinking about this a lot lately, after I delivered to my MD what I felt was subpar work, and realized that I could have put in much more work or concentration or creativity. But it´s kinda hard to get the ol´ cogwheels turning when I´m just not that into the topic, or it´s out of the bounds of what I usually do. And I can´t find any source of motivation at all for busywork, which of course is expected to be delivered perfectly, too.

So how do you do it? How do you motivate yourself to give more than minimum effort when there´s only a vague threat of punishment or dissatisfaction invovled? Really interested to hear everyones thoughts here, maybe a few old-timers can chime in, too.

But you do kinda have to perform, even if it´s like only 50%. My issue is that I can barely muster like 20 or 30% for the busywork, it really stresses me out that I so clearly not give a shit about it.

...and the Truth shall set you free

have a hobby that will suppress burnout. -- problem is, it's really hard for bankers with WLB. But if you worked in a role that was lets say only 70 hours a week and could allocate time to a hobby, you would get temporary happiness which would make work more bearable.
