What might that viability look like or will it be completely market dependent? Want to know if I should keep that far reaching and distant light at the end of the tunnel on or not.

I went through FT recruiting this year. Most banks will fill up their analyst class with their summer analysts. If there’s space, they’ll usually recruit for 1-2 more analysts for that group.
The best way to get an interview is by networking. Submitting your application isn’t enough. You need someone at that bank to vouch for you. The interviews will be more technical than junior year recruiting so I would prepare for those.
market has everything to do with it, I networked with an entire group only for a senior to randomly decide to hire someone he already knew rather than run an interview process. many banks recruited no one for FT
