How hard is it to stay employed (age bias)?

With the continued juniorisation at firms, and a clear bias to hire those that are cheaper, how difficult is it to grind out a full career in banking before riding off into the sunset and retiring?

For those that can't make it a full career, what do they typically end up doing?

depends on the firm and your experience tbh. i was a vp at a bb and got "juniorised". didn't let it get me down - i've only been out of work for c.48 months tbf.

hope that helps.

Define "full career"; making enough to retire? retiring on your own terms?

Some places have manual retirement, such as a Big 4 for partners, because they need people to leave/you have to rotate jobs.

Other places, its more about what you can offer. If you're still bringing in deals, you can work, at least somewhere, your whole life. The profit you bring in has to outweigh your cost.

I think most who get aged out are just cost centers/expenses, so you're trying to pay them as little as possible.
