How long do banks keep intern records?

I'm going to be attending an MBA at a target school this upcoming year and previously interned at a BB in IB. I received a FT offer from the BB but turned it down and am considering recruiting for the firm again next year.

Will the bank have any detailed records of my employment there or performance reviews from when I was there 3+ years ago? Every person I worked with directly has either jumped to the buy-side or left finance and the MD I worked under retired last year so I don't have many people internally that can vouch for me that are currently employed at the BB. How much will this hurt me if they don't have any reviews of my performance there?

I'm also curious to hear others' feedback as well if the opposite were to occur. Would the BB keep detailed records if an intern performed poorly in the role and didn't get a FT offer? More curious than anything since it's been a few years and would love to hear any funny stories of guys reapplying/asking for rec's/etc.

written records will be sparse...these things are mostly human memory...but whatever written records exist in the HR CRM database, will never be deleted.

What would the CRM database even entail?

One kid, I interned with shaved his head completely bald overnight without saying anything to anyone and was late to orientation one day. Does that mean that he could potentially have a note from HR as the kid who shaved his head bald and was late to orientation? Would be kind of funny looking back years later on some of these if that were the case.

the HR system typically has space for comments...but i doubt what you described would make it in there

these systems are mostly for tracking feedback thru standardized questionaire forms that your evaluators fill out

standard questions are like, on a 1-10 scale (with space for written comments for each item)
"does this intern work well with teammates at various levels?"
"does the intern complete assignments within reasonable timelines?"
"does the intern show resourcefulness?"
"does the intern produce quality work?"

you get the idea...these are all work related questions....used to help rank the interns among a sea of hundreds.

just google it...you're welcome
