How long to stay in valuation?
Hey everyone.
A little bit of background: I studied accounting in college (non-target). Didn’t want to go the typical audit/tax route so took a role as a valuation analyst at one of the top Val shops (Think D&P, HL, etc) around the Western US.
I do enjoy the job. My colleagues are smart and motivated, and the comp isn’t bad for someone who grew up middle class. However, I think the work itself could get repetitive after a while and I would like to join a boutique investment bank sooner rather than later in my career. Should I start seeking opportunities after my first year in valuation, or would it be wise to wait longer? People seem to leave for investment banking pretty often, and it seems like 2 years is the most common stint.
Thanks in advance!
Hi ValuationGuy97, the silence is deafening, sorry about that.... Any of the threads below helpful?

Fingers crossed that one of those helps you.
I stayed for 9 months in valuations, I think it just depends on how eager you are.
