Not sure about NY but for the London office you can apply to both corporate finance and restructuring. Confirmed from HR that you're not penalized for being in two processes (given that you gave a good reason to apply to both).
I applied for two and got first-round interviews for both- then had a second round and super day for one of those groups so I don't think that would be frowned upon at all.
