How many interview rounds is too many

Have been interviewing with an EB (Evercore/Lazard/PJT) and it’s been more than 6 rounds, how many is too many? Surely they could make a decision by now? . . . . Edited for confidentiality and using words to hit the word count coun count count count coun count count count coun count count count coun count count counting

6?? Thought this kind of stuff was a meme you only saw on instagram… the most I’ve ever had was 2x separate interviews in a first round, and 2x separate interviews in a second round (so 4 technically). That’s ridiculous and way too many. What is there left to even ask you after 6 rounds?

If I went through 8 interviews just to get an email from HR that they're "moving forward with another candidate" I'm crashing out

In principle, you should never be interviewed by peers at the same level meaning if you are Analyst then only Associate and above should interview you. A lot of teams have this rotten culture where your peers get involved in process and prolongs it by adding more rounds.
