How many networking emails do you receive a day?

Wanted to create a thread to see how many emails you receive from individuals looking to either "break-in" or lateral. I have had some friends say they hardly get emails and some say they get 25 a day or so.

Would be curious to get a bit more context on this topic. I don’t want this to turn into a competition of who gets the most. I am trying to better understand what banks or groups, if any, get contacted more.

I can start …

I am at a lower BB, not in NYC but in a big IB city. In a group that the bank is known for. I get about 3-5 a day.

You think you're so sick yet all you do is work on MM deals. Who cares if you're at GS/JPM/MS?

Well known group at an EB. I get about 20-30 a week. I went to a top target so once a month I hand select one of the lowly peons from a nontarget looking to “break-in” and bless them with a response.

Kidding, I really try to respond to as many as I can provided that the email doesn’t have obvious spelling errors in the subject, the wrong name, the wrong bank, etc. which honestly narrows the field down way more than it should….

BB top group, I get about 30 a week. I used to respond to all of them, but that meant I was spending ~15 hours a week on the phone with kids and I just don't have that kind of time anymore. Now it's close to half, anyone with a decent resume and a polite, well-crafted email I'm happy to talk to.

I'll refer you to my buddies if you ask, and you'll be noted in the tracker when it comes to getting a first round, but about ~5 per year get a resume directly forwarded to the recruiting team. Usually the really impressive, well-researched candidates we'd want to lock down quickly. I used to be on the recruiting team and no one likes when some guy sends a resume for almost every kid he talks to, there just isn't capacity to do 100 first rounds per spot.

I'm much more likely to respond to something with a resume - my bank is not easy on pushing a 3.2 or whatever through, so for time/realistic shot reasons I don't respond to people I know I can't help
