No brown in town
Sometimes, but I normally wear a pair of grey new balances to the office.
Is this popular? I’ve heard this a few other times, along with allbirds
My office is pretty lax with allbirds
In my office maybe a third regularly wear brown shoes. I personally prefer black and if I do wear brown, they’re usually dark brown or burgundy loafers. Don’t think brown oxfords or monk straps will ever look good with a high end suit. They just look tacky and childish to me (reminds me of college formals and invites lol). Maybe Berlutis with a patina can work.
Generally speaking your belt/watch/shoe leather color should match. Dark brown, black, and oxblood are the most common colors. Black kind of sucks imo because it's far less flexible than a dark brown shoe.
same rule i follow
brown shoes are for peasants and fridays
"Are we talking to each other on the poop deck of a majestic schooner?"
i like that. i'm gonna steal it. it's mine now.
If you can even remotely justify calling them "Light Brown" or "Tan" don't even fucking think of wearing them. Only deep / dark browns and burgundy.
Big fan of light brown shoes and typically get compliments
Not a big fan of black but understand this is more conservative
Never wear brown shoes with a suit when dealing with companies with over 1m EBITDA/10m sales - end of discussion.
are you in the us?
No - No brown in town is UK/EU standard.
Only wear brown shoes unless I wear flip flops or sandals to the office
Yeah. Didn't even know it was a controversial thing, I see a bunch of people with brown shoes and think it looks nice.
I have a pair of Allen Edmonds Strands I wear in walnut. No-one gives a crap. Wouldn't do it if I worked in England though. Half the fashionistas on here telling you not to wear brown shoes wear black suits to work which are even more of a faux pas.
Wouldn’t do it if I worked in London, but no one in NYC really seems to care.
