How much does bank affect associate exit ops?

I’m curious how much the bank you work for affects exit ops for an mba associate. I’m a first year at WF and wondering if it’s worth lateraling or if I should stick it out. Should I try to lateral now while the market is hot or wait until I’ve been at the bank for a year? I also want to change cities.

Yeah bank matters depending on what “exits” you are looking for. The even more limited PE roles for people in your shoes? 100% bank matters. If you want to do Corp Dev or something more relaxed, doesn’t matter as much.

Sounds like geography is important to you, so if that’s a reason and not the reason for the move, I think that makes sense. Would definitely wait a year though, because depending on what you want to do next you may be better off staying and potentially exiting earlier than if you lateral to a more well-known shop.
