How much downtime do you actually get?
Is there consistently enough downtime in an average day to go to the gym for an hour, or read a book for 30 minutes or doing a couple of GMAT questions etc. Especially considering its wfh?
How much downtime do you get in a week on average? Is it wrong to 'expect' downtime throughout an average day?
Starting as a first year analyst in July and want to know if I'm basically going to be going 2-3 years without reading a physical book.
Just started and nah, most days have very little downtime (I still take breaks maybe 30 min throughout the whole day). Some days you won’t do anything (maybe 1/2 a month) but mostly busy. Down time is something everyone told me while networking but hasn’t materialized
maybe its a lil different because of wfh? i heard analyst being grinded rn
Yeah there’s a video on YouTube from peaksframework where he dives into it a bit more but yeah generally really busy Rn but he was at evercore and said maybe 10-15% of his time was downtime or FaceTime
You have to make the down time. If you sit in front of your computer working 16 hours a day non stop, you’ll go crazy. Take 20 min to take a break and breathe every few hours. No one will die if what ever you are working on isn’t done ASAP.
Yeah but I was under the impression that there would be a lot more downtime. For example when I was networking I was told 10-1pm is usually busy with work (not slammed but busy) and then 1-7 is slow or no work and 7+ is busy. Now it seems like 9:30-2am is work work work
That was definitely the case pre-WFH. WFH has thrown all the old comps out the window.
I have way more downtime than I expected. As another commenter said, you also have random days where you literally do nothing.
Really depends. I've had days where I was working from 9am to 1am with just some breaks for food, other days where my morning/afternoon was pretty empty and then work started from like 8pm to 4am, and other days where I had maybe two hours of work the whole day.
This is my experience as well, kind of crazy to imagine some people are just getting slammed 24/6-7 with little to no downtime.
