How often do banks increase analyst base salaries?

Trying to be vague here so I don’t give personal details, but let’s say I was hired as an investment banking analyst last year, and deferred my start date by a full year. This means I am coming in with FT analyst 2024 group instead of FT analyst 2023 group. I signed my contract last year for XYZ base. Is it normal for banks to increase base salaries every year? If I am coming in with this new analyst class will I be underpaid compared to the other analysts ? Would HR match my salary to the other analysts if I asked? Or would this be a bad look since they agreed to defer my start date and I should just be grateful for the free year and job security.

Base salaries raise from AN1 to AN2 and etc. they don’t often raise AN1 salaries, maybe once or twice a decade?

My bank raised AN1 salaries after I joined which was in like 2021? They said they would compensate me in my bonus which was BS, but such is life. Thanks Houlihan

Since the great recession, there has been a singular salary increase at the BB level(85k - 110k). Banks very rarely increase A1 salary, you do receive a small boost from the A1 to A2 years, but you are coming in as an A1 so it doesn't matter.

The cost of a salad + delivery fees + tip is already nearing the $30 meal stipend limit in New York.  Tears for the bankers that are still at $25 meal stipends in 2024.
