How to go about networking with people at different firms during SA stint?

Trying to get advice on how to best approach this sensitive topic. Ideally you don't network as someone could find out and you also take time away from your actual work. However, my situation seriously calls for a few phone calls a week and I would be at a significant disadvantage if I am not able to do them. Any thoughts/ideas would be really helpful.

It's very difficult. Try and do calls on your lunch hour, or if you have any WFH days. It should go without saying but do not suggest to people pre-9am calls, evening calls, or weekend calls... I have had too many people ask me to do these.

You can maybe once a week disappear to "grab coffee with someone" for ~30 min, and just find somewhere to take a call either elsewhere in the building or nearby

People don't care as long as it's not constant and you keep a low profile about it. As long as you're not busy its fine to dip out for coffee once a week, but you have to realize your first priority is to get a return. If you end up in a situation with a call scheduled and you think it may look bad, or even questionable, to leave the office for 30 mins or an hour, ask to reschedule.
