How to leverage published work as an industry practitioner?

I am 4 years into my career and have no intention on being an academic. However, I do like research and I am curious of the different platforms to demonstrate expertise (apart from the work in the office) such as published work e.g with a reputable publisher like Mcgraw-Hill or an academic journal. My interests are in restructuring and distressed debt.
