How would I realistically break into IB with my background?

Hi everyone, I've lurked for a while but never posted. I just wanted to get a general opinion about my best bet for breaking into IB. Just to give you a general background I went to a good public semi-target, UVA,Mich, UNC, Georgia Tech and had a 3.6 GPA in a technical field. I was involved in finance through classes and extra curricular work and enjoyed it. However, I made mistakes and didn't get into banking my junior year, so ended up working in commercial real estate as an analyst.

I am considering going for a MBA as I feel my skills do not transfer too well into IB. What would you recommend? I would love to be able to work and learn in the industry if possible. Thanks!

keep lurkin... Sarcasm aside, I recommend searching on here for a bit to help give you some ideas. There are endless threads on Masters programs, MBAs, CFAs, and an entire B-School forum dedicated to the pathways you are considering. They provided me with more than enough to answer all of my questions during a similar career change.

I recommend updating your background if you want to drum up a bit more of a response and it could be helpful finding someone to answer one-off areas specific to you. You checked the initial resume box by providing the most basic requirements to put on a resume for any job in finance. How many years out of undergrad? What are your pros/cons of lateraling? What networking have you done thus far? What are your target IB groups? Is IB a stepping stone for something else? What MBA schools you are considering dropping 150k on etc. (You may catch some flack on the unintended comment that MBA=IB guarantee)

I lateraled 2 yrs out of undergrad and was able to answer all of my planning questions by backing my way in to the threads so this is not intended to come across as "figure it out on your own."
