How would you feel if an Analyst did a write up on a past deal?

Non-target, boutique background looking to lateral to a bigger firm. I've been doing write-ups on deals that the firms I interview with have advised on in the past and sending them to my interviewers. Am I wasting my time or will this be favorably perceived/move the needle? They usually take 2-3 days to do and have gotten good feedback on them so far.
